In recent years, particularly corporate companies prefer rental to meet their industrial product requirements. One of the biggest expectations of the companies that purchase equipements and equipment management as a service by focusing on their own business is to reduce their expenses and achieve an efficient business. Faruk Uyanık, Rental Manager of HASEL, provides clarifications on rental services.

Could you give information about your rental operations?

We successfully carry out the operational rental process with our rental centre, 260 technicians and engineers, located in 13 different locations, mainly in Istanbul, Bursa, and Izmir. The characteristic that distinguishes us from our competitors is that our sales and rental workshops are separate from each other and our technical team is divided in half and specialized in their own fields. This is very important for us. This enables us to act much faster in operational rental and to quickly solve the concerns of our customers. All of our technicians work within our own company. Their training, presence in our company for a long time, and having a good command of the subject bring customer satisfaction together. When we take a look at our equipment park, we have approximately 2 thousand equipments and equipment in operational rental. And this enables us to be among the first two companies in the rental industry. In addition to our rental fleet park, we are able to carry out short-term rental with our used equipment park of approximately 500.

Is short-term rental a reasonable start for those who want long-term rental?

Companies that already deal with short-term rental generally have two purposes. When their business is very busy and they cannot get the desired result with the existing equipment park, they tend to prefer short-term rental without concluding a long-term contract. By this means, they prevent the disruption of their business and meet their requirements without incurring additional financial burden. Or, the ones who want to have long-term rental, first tend to do short-term rental. In this manner, they try to see the outcome they will get and the rental model. This is the point that we focus on, in other words, to enable the companies, which want to make long-term rental, create a positive perspective towards the product and rental and to provide them with an idea. In brief, short-term rental is the key to long-term rental.

In which industries are you more active and which industry is the most challenging one to serve for you?

In fact, we do rental in many different industries. However, we can say that our largest fleet is in the automotive industry. Besides automotive, we provide services in fast consumption, textile, logistics, beverage, chemistry, casting, packaging, and heavy industry. Our main goal is to serve the right place in the right time with the right equipments by taking the difficulty levels of the operations into consideration. I can say that the most challenging one among them is definitely the casting industry. They have a tough working site and there is a serious possibility of equipments wear. Particularly, there are iron powder, temperature in the inner regions, crucible transport works in the skewing departments. The equipments seriously worn out and you have to make various revisions for occupational safety reasons. If your equipments will work in the casting industry, then necessary safety measures should be taken and the components on them should be appropriate for the environment. As Linde, we use casting-proof equipment in these sites.

How do you direct your customer in rental operations? According to you, why should your customer prefer rental?

It may be more profitable to purchase in non-intensive operations. However, in a shift working condition and intensive use, it is definitely more advantageous to rent. One of the most important advantages of rental is “No commitment advantage and the flexibility it offers.” When the customer needs the equipment, it can solve this requirement by rental in small instalments without any extra financial burden. Rental will provide a great advantage during the peak periods of each customer group's business. The biggest advantage of rental from the customer's point of view is concentrating on own business and providing this service through an expert company. In addition to this, in rental, there are no risks and responsibilities brought with the purchasing. There are no long-term costs such as interest, taxes, insurance, battery maintenance. In addition to these, your bank credit limit remains open to use for your own business. Rental is an expense item in the tax return and reduces the tax. In the rental, the replacement time of the equipment is defined in advance and at the end of this period, you always continue your business with new equipment.

Choosing the right product is extremely important both for you and your customer. How do you ensure this?

First of all, we have to visit the site where the equipments will operate. Because, the operation site and conditions are very important in the selection of equipments. It is necessary to evaluate many conditions such as ground, operating conditions, load weight and structure, number of shifts, appropriateness of battery usage, etc. When all these conditions are reviewed, we can recommend the most appropriate equipments to our customer. In addition to this, we inform our customers. For example, they can use the e-forklift on the site to carry the load over long distances, as the forklift is not a transport but a lifting vehicle. A tow tractor that they will buy instead will make it both faster and easier, as well safer. Therefore, guiding the customers correctly in their product selection is very important for us and for them. Because, after all, the equipment is our equipment, and of course, it has to be used well and chosen for the right job in order to take care in a good manner.

How do you see the future of rental?

The rental industry is growing day by day. In some countries in Europe, the rate is as high as 70 percent. It can be said that the average rental rate in the e-forklift market in Türkiye is approximately 30 percent. However, this number is increasing day by day. In Türkiye, particularly 90 percent of corporate companies have turned to rental. SMEs are also starting to turn slowly. As they start to recognize and learn the advantage of rental, they will claim more demand for rental. As Hasel İstif Makinaları, we want to continue to grow by increasing our market share. Our goals are growing in proportion to the market every year. Our most important goal is to increase our market share in the field of rental for a sustainable growth.
